Frequently Asked Questions

Are new patients accepted?
Yes! We welcome new patients. New patients are advised to schedule appointments prior to visit.

Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes! We have walk-in times for sick patients in the mornings between the hours of 7:00am - 8:00am. If you intend to visit during walk-in times, we advise that you arrive early as priority is given to scheduled appointments, we would then be unable to guarantee you a short waiting-time. If you are unable to come-in within that time frame, we advise that you call the office at 7:00am to schedule a same-day visit. Same-day sick visits are scheduled based on availability, on a first call first schedule bases. We are unable to guarantee same day visits or walk-ins for preventive care/physical exams. We request that you call the office to schedule an appointment for such visits.

Yes! Cash payments are accepted. If you are a self-pay patient, we may negotiate a discounted fee. This will be discussed with you at the time services are rendered.

Do you have after hours triage service?
Yes!

What Lab tests do you offer?
We offer basic lab tests such as CBC, STREP, FLU, MONO

What insurance companies and plans do you offer?
BCBS, UHC, MEDICAID, AETNA, TRICARE, WELLPATH, CIGNA.

How can I get my prescriptions refilled?
Depending on the Rx, you can have the prescription e-prescribed. Prescriptions containing controlled substances have to be picked-up in person-in some cases, the patient has to be seen first.

Do you assist with referrals?
Yes! We provide in-house referral service

Do you have a parking area?
Yes! We have free parking adjacent to building.

Fees/Payments

Payment:
We make every effort to ensure that our fees are fair and comparable for our specialty around the Charlotte area. For your convenience, we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, credit card, and cash. If you are a self-pay patient, we may provide you with a discounted fee. This will be discussed with you at the time services are rendered. You are responsible for co-pays as well as other fees necessary based on the treatment received. These fees would be required of you during each visit.

Payment Plans:
We would gladly work with you to structure a convenient payment plan if necessary.

Unpaid accounts:
If you have an outstanding balance on your account, please contact our office to make payment arrangements. If no payment arrangements are made on your account, and you continue to maintain an outstanding balance, your account may be referred to an independent collection service. This is very costly to both you and the practice. Should you have questions concerning your fees and/or payments schedules, please call our business office Monday through Friday between 8:00am – 4:00 pm.

Insurance:
We accept most insurance plans. You would be required to present your insurance card at every office visit. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company to make sure that we are a participating provider. You will be responsible for co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance at each office visit.

Cancellation:
We understand that for unforeseen reasons, cancellations might be necessary. In such circumstances, please notify us of your impending cancellation, at best 24 hours prior to appointment time. Failure to notify us of any cancellation may incur a “missed appointment” fine of $20.00.

Acceptable Insurance

Our practice participates in health plans with a number of insurance companies. Participation in these plans may change without notice. In addition we bill for private commercial insurance plans. If you do not see your plan, please call our office and ask about your specific insurance plan.

If on Medicaid, please ensure that MidCarolina Pediatrics is the designated Primary Care Physician (PCP) on your insurance card.

To change your PCP to MidCarolina Pediatrics or have MidCarolina Pediatrics as your designated PCP, please contact your Medicaid office.

Our Services


Walk-ins:
Yes! We have walk-in times in the mornings between the hours of 7:00am - 8:00am. Appointments:
To better serve our patients, we recommend parent’s schedule appointments prior to office visits. Appointments can be scheduled online or by phone. We have scheduled appointment times in the morning and afternoon. We do our best to accommodate same-day appointments.

Medical Records Transfers:
We uphold the principle that medical records should be confidential. To this end, we go the extra mile to ensure your records stay private. We can directly transfer your medical records to a practice of your choosing, solely on your request. You would be required to fill out a medical release form. If you intend to transfer your medical records to MidCarolina Pediatrics, you can have them faxed to the practice at (704) 588 0445.

Referrals:
We provide referral services to specialists when necessary. We are in close contact with specialists in the Charlotte area and can schedule appointments on your behalf. Except for emergency situations, we request 48 hour notice for processing referrals. 24-hours answering services: We have a 24-hour answering service available to our patients. After office hours, you can reach our on-call pediatrician, who would guide you through your medical needs.

Sport physicals:
To meet school requirements, we conduct a thorough physical exam and then have the necessary school forms filled out.

Flu vaccines:
We administer seasonal flu vaccines to patients. You can come in as a walk-in for your flu shots or preferably schedule appointments prior to visit.

ADD/ADHD consults:
We provide ADD/ADHD consults to help our patients get on track. If necessary, we offer referrals to specialists. For your convenience, we encourage you to schedule your appointment prior to visits.

In-house Labs and X-rays:
We perform basic lab tests in-house. Basic lab tests for allergy, vision, hearing, developmental delay, lead, glucose and hemoglobin level, CBC, cholesterol, urinalysis, Hemocult, PPD, pregnancy test, finger/Heel stick, rapid strep, mono spot, influenza, and py test. We also provide in-house X-Ray services for chest, facial bone, hand, and foot.

Immunizations:
We provide immunization services against pneumonia measles, chicken-pox, hepatitis A and B, meningitis, polio, and tetanus. Minor trauma and urgent care: Minor trauma and urgent care is one of our areas of specialty. In times of emergency during after hours, we advise that you call 911 first.

Preventive care:
We understand that good health is a first step to a healthy and productive childhood. To this end, the focus of our practice is on preventive medicine as a measure to prevent diseases.

Procedures:
We undertake a number of treatment procedures. Some of the procedures are audiogram, tympanogram, vision, cerumen removal, lacerations, wart destruction, inhalation treatment, nail debridement, pulmonary function test, and foreign body removal for ear and nose.
